We became intrigued with Corso's about two years ago and spent a good amount of time researching the breed. After speaking with Wendy & Clay on numerous occasions, and meeting them and their dogs at a show, we began the process to purchase a show potential puppy. What appealed to us about Apex is their dogs are well-rounded, with titles in obedience, conformation, working, and reproduction. When we picked up Balan (first pick male), he immediately demonstrated the traits of an Apex Corso. He was attentive, curious, pack-oriented, high drive, and super friendly. We immediately began conformation and obedience training. As first-time handlers, Balan has made the learning process very easy as he picked up quickly on his training. By 8 months of age and after only 4 shows, Balan had become a Rarities Champion and Puppy of the Year for 2006! Wendy & Clay were instrumental in Balan's success. They attended most of the shows we did over the last year, showing their dogs, and were constantly assisting us to become better handlers. They are always available by phone or email to answer our questions. At most shows, we see another Apex Corso owner with their pup to either show or just to visit. Cara is the most wonderful dog we have ever owned. She is a 2 year old grey brindle who is in perfect health. Her temperment is about as good as you could ever hope for. Cara is very bright, learns easily and truely loves her family. She is such a beautiful dog that people often pull their cars over in the street when I am walking her to ask about her and meet her.
After looking for breeders for many months, we finally decided on Apex based on the dogs we met and how they dealt with us. Wendy and Clay answered any and all questons we had, no matter how trivial some of those questions may have been. They even allowed us to visit the pups the week before they could come home so we could surprise our kids. We spent time with the new puppies and also spent time with several of the adult dogs that day. That experience only confirmed that we had made the right choice in breeders.
Since then, we are in touch with Apex, sending pictures and updating them on how Cara is doing. Wendy and Clay are both genuinely interested in how Cara is doing and how much she means to us. Several times a year, we visit them at shows with Cara and it is always a wonderful experience. The best way to describe Wendy and Clay is passionate. This is not a business or a hobby to them. They are passionate about the breed and the dogs in their program. If you are looking for or just thinking about a Cane Corso, then Apex is where you should go.
